Gm Incentives Change Mar 4 / Any Projections?

During the last several weeks I've been looking to replace my Ford SuperCrew FX4 with either another 08 Ford or GMC. In comparing the two trucks I found a very large disparity between factory incentives for this style (F150, Silverado, Sierra) of vehicle.

GM: $3,500 ($2,000 Cash Cllowance, $1,000 Cash Back, $500 Active Military)

Ford: $5,750 ($3,000 Retail Cash, $1,500 RCL Customer Cash, $500 Active Military & $750 Customer Appreciation Cash received when I ordered a brochure from ford.com)

The problem is...I want a GMC but swallowing $2,250 for a little bit better ride and proposed better gas mileage by 1 or 2 gallons makes me second guess my decision. The current GM incentives, including this Presidents Day sale, is set to expire around March 3rd.

Does anyone have an educated guess based on assumption or past experience as to what GM will do with their incentives after the current ones expire in a week?

Well, common sense says that as the year goes on the incentives will only get better, not worse. When do the Ford deals change? Would be nice if you could wait to see what the GMC deals do and then buy a Ford if they're not good enough.

I'd buy a GMC either way, but just saying. :)

I hope they stay the same or get better. Waiting on my 08 Tahoe to arrive and when I ordered it was only 2K now its 3K.

Ironically the Ford incentives are set to expire within the same timeframe as GM's. Come March 4th, we should see fresh incentives on both sides of the fence.

This if Ford's last year with this body design for the F150. All new for model year 2009

I have read, that Ford does not want a glut of older F150's when the new ones arrive in Sept. 2008.

I have no idea if this plays into current incentives. All trucks are not selling well presently.

My salesman stated that he could 'play' with a few days if incentives went up or down on my date of delivery. Whether he was telling me a story or not is debatable.

When my ordered truck was delivered, it was a day after incentives ended. But new ones were posted which were exactly the same as old ones. I go $1,000.00 off and 3.9% financing. I have seen cash back of $1,000.00 AND rebate of $1,000.00 and 3.9%. I didn't get that much. I think that was on extended cab or a crew cab - not regular cab.

I just signed for an 08 Silverado and have a question. I got the $3,250 cash incentive but the dealer deducted it after the taxes were calculated on the vehicle. Is that the correct way? I was hoping the 3250 was deducted first then the tax calculated which would have saved me 260.00 in tax.

Robert,

I went through the same thing the taxes are on the purchased price of the vehicle then you minus rebates and incentives

if i were you i'd wait to replace the FORD, since the new 09 style is around the corner, that means low dirt prices to get rid of the old style.
