Kit Or Not To Kit?

I got my 03 Z71, Im pretty sure its got the 4l60-e, and the shifts are really.... soft and long. Im pretty sure thats actually worse than the firm quick shifts I had in my '99.

 

My question is, will the kit hurt me if i decide to go 4x4 off road or on ice/wet pavement?

I was planning on getting the tune at the same time, Gonna send in my old tuned PCM from the 99 and they will send me a new one for my 03 for just about 40 bucks they said.

I just wanted to know about the physical effect on the 4x4 hardware.

I don't have a gmc, but I have a dakota, you will have faster, firmer shifts (you will feel them) It also extents the life of the tranny. I Don't think it will hurt you at all just make it last longer.
