I am going to be gaining posession of my dad's 1997 silverado 4x4 soon so it's time to start planning ahead in terms of upgrades. It has the 5.7L in it and is completely stock.

 

I'm looking to get an upgraded CAI or SRI, exaust(could be full or just a cat-back, not insanely loud) and a simple hand-held programmer. Should I also be upgrading the spark plugs? (truck has only 140,XXX kms on it and has never been punished by my aging father)

 

Looking for anyones .02 cents, havent had much luck finding parts on the internet so thought this would be the best place to ask the question.

 

Dont need a huge upgrade in power, rarely ever go 4wheeling and the truck is a DD.

I would look into the Magnaflow Cat backs, Summit Racing has good prices and free shipping.

 

For intake I personally like the K&N but they all give pretty much the same amount of gain.

 

For a tune i would look into getting a custom tune, if not ive been really pleased with Superchips.

Should I look into getting headers? or are they just to much money for not enough performance gain for my needs? Should i look into removing the cat? or should i replace with a resonator? Will this make the exaust sound to loud annoying?

 

Should i look at upgrading the spark plugs or the throttle body?
