My Truck Ticks.

Recommended Posts

Well today in the morning when leaving to school, I was inside my house and I started my truck. When I started it, I got a loud ticking noise for 3-4 seconds. It was so loud that I could actually hear it in my house with the doors shut!

Anyways, does it do damage to the engine when it ticks? Normal?

Should I really worry about this?

The Jeep I just traded in made weird noises on startup on the extreme cold only (down here, 25-35 F is extreme cold)....I could only imagine the ticks and creaks you would hear up there. Maybe an exhaust leak or a belt-driven something ticking?

If you could hear it inside your house with the doors closed, Yes, be worried about it. It may just be that your sig pic is too big but I'd take it to the dealer anyway.

You heard from inside you house? Wow, I'd definetely take it to the dealer. Insist that they keep it overnight, and start it up in the early morning. If they don't find anything, then they will at least have the problem documents if something where to happen to the engine in the future.

I don't understand the issue with my display picture. Do some members really use phoneline? I thought that was old technology. And yeah I'll change it right now lol.

OH MY! Lifters failing? WTF. Screw this this truck has to go before it causes further problems. Once the warranty ends I can only imagine how many problems will occur...

Also can I print out those TSB's and take it to the dealer if they refuse to fix it or say its normal?

Thanks for shrinking your pic. The issue is that you take up the whole page with your pic and when you post multiple times it makes it a PITA to follow along with the thread. And yes, some guys still use dial-up, it is old technology but some guys here drive old trucks too. Not everyone has to have the newest and best to be content.

I fell there's a little exageration going on here. Ticking on start up for a few seconds is perfectly normal. Why the hell do people freak out about it??? It looks to me like you're looking for an excuse to dump the truck.

I can still hear the ticking. Apparently the picture shrinkage had no effect.....
