Steering Wheel W/radio Controls

Hello all! I am new to the site and just installed a steering wheel w/radio controls on my 07 NBS LS w/ cruise. I have seen all the threads on this. The problem is that it will not control the radio. The back lights work. Any suggestions???

After reading the old posts, it should work. I think it was Chickenwing that did it with success.

check the back of your radio to ensure everything is plugged in - I plan on upgrading my steering wheel as soon as the price wars get over on them or I can afford one from gmparts

I did do this with success. I didn't have to reset anything. Once all the connections were made, it worked fine. Did you start off with a cruise control only wheel, then add a cruise/radio control wheel? Thats what my situation was. Other than that, all I can say is double check that all the wires and harnesses are fastened securely, and not crimped or cut. Also check the connection inside the radio control pod on the wheel to make sure the harness is plugged in there.

Did you replace the old wheel with a new one, or did you swap parts from a donor? Just want to make sure you have the correct harness.

I replaced the whole steering wheel with cruise/radio controls. I already had cruise. I was looking on another chevy truck forum and they mentioned if your radio does not have the CAT button then it won't work. My radio is the 1 CD without the CAT button. That is the only thing I can think of as to why it won't work.

I have the CAT button on mine and when I push it it says that it is an xm feature Mine came with the radio controls so I know this probably isn't much help.

yeah maybe they aren't making it easy anymore & you might have to get a certain factory radio

Category. It's for perusing the XM categories. I can't imagine why it would make a difference. Perhaps any model not XM ready was not intended for the higher end trucks and could also not be redundant controls ready. I hope this is not the case and this guy gets it figured out but it seems plausible.

I want to change the stock stereo anyway to one with XM so I can get rid of the XM that I have velcroed on the dash. Any recommendations on a good XM after market stereo that has XM and will work with my steering wheel controls???
