Clockspring Installation

I have a 2007 classic 2500HD 4wd Dmax LT1 that did not come with the steering wheel controls. I am in the process of adding this option. I am installing the new clock spring but cannot figure out one connector. It is white and sits near the ignition switch with a brown and green wire and a spring loaded plunger. How is it removed? So many have done this mod sucessfully that I feel like an idiot for not figuring this out. Thanks for any help.

The installation of the coil kit (clockspring) and the wheel went without a problem. I'm taking it to the local dealer to see if they can do the programming next week. They seemed eager to try when I talked to them about what I was attempting.

Duse, do you have the necessary parts? I have the clockspring from a 2005 2500HD CC if you're interested. Let me know.

I have nothing yet.And yes I would take it if it's what I need..

Maybe you can clear this up for me

It is my understanding that I need a clockspring & wheel, what about a cluster?Or since I have the tranny temp gauage on mine I dont need a cluster.

And I have to figure out what kind of airbag I have in order to get the correct clockspring?

Does that sound right?

I started getting a headache reading all the DIC threads

Once that happens everything I read makes no sense

I know what you mean about all the threads. I started reading after I bought my truck a year ago. I bought the steering wheel off of ebay and a clockspring from a salvage yard in Canada. I then read somewhere where the part no. changed with a new part for 2007 and I then bought the new one from partszoneonline.com. I couldn't see any difference between the 2005 and the 2007 part. So I have the 2005 clock spring as surplus. It's easy to check the airbag, just make sure you disconnect the batteries before you do it. There is a thread with pictures over at chevyavalanchefanclub.com.

silverbirch,

how did you mangage to diconnect the ignition connector? I am doing the same mod on my 2008 2500HD Silverado. I can not figure out how to remove the two-lead connector attached to the ignition. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
