Just in case there is any question. The fixed orfice PCV is basicly a connection for the hose to the valve cover. It is hollow and has a small hole in the bottom but no valve mechanism like a regular PCV. For this reason, there is nothing to go bad.

Most aftermarket replacement PCV valves are the regular style and you really do not want to use them.

Mine is a fixed orfice in my 02 and it is removable. I was unaware that they later made them a permanent piece.

Normally you just grip the pcv hose where it meets the top of the pcv and pull straight out. I've never heard of a pcv fusing to the rubber gasket in the rear of the left manifold. It's metal on rubber so it shouldn't be that hard.

Maybe a LITTLE back n forth persuasion? Not alot.....don't wanna damage the hose.

Are fixed orfice pvcs replacable???

Don

Fixed? That's weird. My coworker's 04 Yukon's PCV is removable. Of course my 02's pcv is actually an 03's....so who knows.

Thanks for the post if they are a fixed orface why do thet sell a replacement and how do i clean it out

I believe the fixed orfice they sell is to replace the older verable orfice that let more oil into the intake causing the throttle body to gum up.

Compared to the older pcv that you could shake and hear it rattle, the fixed orfice passes a lot less oil. I have a catch can between my pvc and the intake. Every 2 wks it will collect maybe 2 to 3 ounces

depending how hard I drive.

I really have never thought of cleaning the pvc. I guess you could squirt a small amount of carb cleaner into it. I doubt the hose is stopped up.

Good luck,
