It doesnt allow for any difference in wheel speed does it?

You have the "Auto-Trak" transfer case. It takes the blue auto-trak fluid you have to get from the dealer. Be sure to keep an eye on the level. I believe the way it works is, it senses the difference in wheel rpm and adjusts.

Oops my mistake no Its got 2Hi 4HI 4LO and in between 4HI andLo It says Neutral.

This truck is driving me crazy it has an open front and rear differential and in 2wd even in 4wd the traction is horrible if i lightly tap the gas in 2Hi on pavement My tires start spinning. 4WD offers really crappy traction in winter any suggestions?

That T/Case, when in Auto will lock the front axle and if there is a speed difference between the front and rear shaft will engage a clutch pack in the case. In 4hi, it locks the front axle and locks the clutchs in the case.

jman, I agree with mark, get better tires. That t/case locks the front and rear driveshafts together with a syncronizer setup. HTH

I like the BFG All Terrain, they seem to work well anywhere. If you do not have the 4auto button it is not auto-trac. I run 2.75qts. of synthetic 5w-30 motor oil in mine and it works very well.
