Just as long as you have dismantled the radiator and radiator core support you should be ok! While you are at it take the fenders and wheel wells off to make it really easy!

Plus dont forget to run it for a couple of minutes just to make sure its running right and than run it for a good solid 20 minutes just to check water, engine temp, fluids, timing, ect!

Assuming this is a 350 you are working on and that the motor is new or a reman, as Brian has said, run it at 2000 RPMs for 20 mins alternating the rpm slightly during this period. Make sure it is not running hot and you may want to have a good shop fan blowing into the radiator. You do not want it at idle during this period.

This 20 mins is critical to the break in of the camsahnft and lifters. I also like to prime the oil pump with a drill before installing the distributor. This way you know all of your oil passages are already full of oil. You can buy a rod that fits into the top of the oil pump and the other end fits in a drill chuck. You can also make your own.

The motor has already 500 miles on it. Is it necessary to prime the oil pump? And yes this is a 350 4 bolt main with a mild cam work done . Also how do i find my TDC ?
