2004 Silverado W/ Bose Premium?

I just bought a 2004 Silverado Extended Cab Z71, it has a CD/Cassette stereo in it and there are Bose symbols on the door's Speaker Grills. Does this indicate the Bose Premium Sound system? What is the difference between this and the standard system?? What do I needto replace it with an aftermarket head unit and sub-woofer??? Thanks for all your help in advance!

Yep, if you have the Bose system, that's considered the upgraded "premium" sound system. You should be able to just replace the HU and get a wiring harness for your truck. I know folks have done that before without any issues. But normally once you make that step, you'll probably end up replacing the speakers anyways.

For the sub/amp, shouldn't be any different if you swap out the HU since you'll have the usual pre-amp outputs. Crutchfield can help with that as well. They'll make sure you get any adapters or harnesses you need to get it installed super easy.

Thanks for the info. I assume Chevy actually thought this was a "Premium" sound system in 2004. It's garbage! Any suggestions on aftermarket speakers that will fit??
