Trailer Hitch Receiver Rusting Out

Recommended Posts

Just like the topic says...would the dealer cover this under Bumper-to-Bumper factory warranty...or would they just use "touch up" paint to cover the rust??

NBS...2008 Sierra, 970 miles on it. Bought 2-9-08. The receiver, directly below the rear bumper, has a whole bunch of rust forming on it...

ALSO, this truck was a dealer trade. It also has that plastic molded bumper guard...the plastic right below the license plate...with a bunch of indentations/gashes in it.

This truck has never seen a trailer...would all this be covered, or a waste of time? I would like the truck to be like-new while I own it.

Any others with this problem?? Any results you can post??

If you have ever inserted a hitch, then the vibrations and rubbing will expose the metal and cause surgace rust. I wrapped by hitch with duct tape so that it would not rub inside the hitch. You can' t tell there is tape on my hitch because I only wrapped the part of the hitch that goes into the receiver.
