Savana Stutters Under Load

My van has many symptoms and I'm hoping one solution.

 

When pulling a moderate but lengthy hill, the van seems to be losing power but will not down shift until I lift my foot from the accelerator and depress it. If I then accelerate too fast it will begin to miss and finally I get a "pop" from underneath. If I accelerate up the hill without lifting my foot and merely press harder on the accelerator it will not down shift and will start to stutter. The service engine light has never come on. When traveling on the level, at light pedal at about 50 mph, I get a noticeable miss, almost a buck. Sometimes when traveling around 35 mph and try to accelerate, as the transmission down shifts it feels like I just ran over rumble strips These things have been going on for quite a long time, but now seems to be getting worse. I have been told that it may be a pump in the transmission sticking, a bad ignition control module or a bad catalytic converter. It was tuned up at 50,000 miles. What should I do?

Sounds like a distributor cap and rotor. I would change them first.

The cap and rotor were changed at 50,000 along with plugs and wires with no real change
