1990 Chevrolet 1500 2WD Long Bed 4.3 5 speed manual 140,000 miles.

Bought it used from original owner 8 years ago. It has been the most reliable truck I have owned. Old Faithful. Always started and went straight and true (except for cheap Wallymart battery once).

Zero Rust. (Oil undercoated every year - $60.00)

Original alternater replaced before I got truck and I never had to replace that one.

Original clutch lasted 15 years.

Orignal (aftermarket when new) air conditioning still works.

Original starter replaced last year.

Original light under hood still works with original bulb.

Just normal parts/repairs like brakes, muffler, axle gaskets, one 02 sensor two years ago, cap/rotor.

Original catalytic converter

Original front end - no parts replaced.

Original water pump and radiator - and I never replaced anti-freeze, ever.

Original thermostat.

Original radiator cap.

All electronics original.

Original wiper motor.

Never a problem with heater.

Seats look new (always covered).

Radio reception needed improvement (I replaced internal antenna wires (there are two) one time and radio reception became perfect - needs to be done again - a two piece design).

All in all a darn good truck. Headliner beginning to come loose. Paint on roof only faded.

Sad to see it go. Very sad.

Someone got a good truck. Sold for $2,450.00

Tears cannot substitute my grief and sadness.

I'd have snatched that up about 1 year and one month ago if you'd have put it up for sale. :shakehead:

I had an '89 LWB reg cab that (like yours) was bulletproof. It had the 5.0 in it and would get great mileage on the highway...Along with that 34 gallon tank. 700 miles between fillups anybody? That truck was one of the best I've ever owned, and I bought it from an oilfield supply company with 32k miles on it. And those people beat their trucks like no other. Last I heard that truck now has 400k on the original engine/transmission.

Opps.

I have had the truck 10 years, not eight.

Thanks.

WOW. I thought you'd never sell it.

FRED has become a whole new category of trucks!

Why did you even sell it then? 2 Grand is nothing.

Some things aren't just about money Jas... one of these days you'll know what we mean.

Wait a minute...Did you buy your truck, in addition to paying a mortgage and all the bills?

In 7 years, this would be categorized as an antique vehicle in my state.

Yes, to many, the selling price is low, but around here - not so low - for many.

The question is more about storage, insurance, registration, and so forth. I have an automobile AND and new 2008 GMC Sierra. It then becomes, how many vehicles needed and their placement/storage.

Ask him if he was even born in 1990.

TWENTY FOUR FIFTY?!?!?!?!? The guy STOLE it!!!!! I know how you feel though dude, I see the guy that bought my '95 all the time and all he does is rave about how much he likes it. It's used for a construction truck now, but they stopped beating it to death and use it to drive from site to site.

I swear, if I hear one more thing about how great it is, I'm gonna go steal it back from them!!!!!!!!!
