I thought it would be interesting to know if anyone has a favorite driver. Mine is Kevin Harvick. GO 29. Back in the '70's I liked Buddy Baker & David Pearson, and then along came "DALE"

I loved Earnhardt Senior. I haven't been able to get into NASCAR much since he died. The sport has taken a much more corporate / multi car owner style that isn't nearly as much fun to watch. I still check in on Junior occasionally though... mostly out of respect for his dad.

Yeah, he was the man. I feel for MS3DALE who knew and worked for him personally in '96 I believe he said

My man always has been and always will be Mark Martin. I root for him every race he runs still today, even though he's on a limited schedule.

Out of the current full-time competitors. I like Clint Bowyer in the #07. I think I'm gonna start wearing #07 Jack Daniels gear once Martin's completely out of it.

I like Martin. He's old school racing. I still keep an eye on the sport but I almost never see a race anymore. This weekend is in Texas but I'm going to the IHRA Nationals that are gonna be about 8 miles from my house!

#3 Legends never die. I did start to stay with Kevin Harvick after Dale SR passing cause of RCR and the Goodwrench Chevrolet but he turned out to be a moron, But my man is jr and as Zembonez said I cant get into it as much as I did also. The cars are just about like IROC cars. The black #3 Goodwrench Chevrolet needs to come back just like it was but that will never happen.

I really don't think Harvick is a bad guy.. he had impossible shoes to fill. He tried being the cocky guy like big E was and he didn't pull it off well.

I don't think taking the majority of the building process away from the teams helps anybody. I think the multi car teams are as big a part of modern day NASCAR's problems as anything. They take away from the individual driver/team experience that was racing for years. Money has spoiled the sport pretty much like it has every other one. It just took the cash longer to get to Bubba-Ville.

The race we had today is yet another example of how boring the sport is becoming. They're doing everything they can to make the sport as boring as possible. The new "COT" "safe" car, reducing HP, worse handling tires, etc. Jimmie Johnson just commented today after the race about how crappy the new car is. Now that he's finally had a "good" car that can run with everyboby else - now it's even more obvious how bad it is.

Yeah I saw that too, yes it was a very boring race as I didnt watch it all but was in and out of watching it.

I do have to agree with you on the nature of the new car. It does suck, but it saves lives. Did any of you see the wreck with 00 in qualifying? It was a lot, and I mean a lot worse than the one that took Earnhardt away from us. I don't care to much on teams having 3 or 4 cars in the stable, but it's all about money. I miss the good old days when the cars looked like the cars on the street.

I'll admit that Harvick was an arrogant sob at first, but he was expected to do what no man can do. He has grown up well, and has potential to make a name for himself. I hated to see the Goodwrench sponsorship go away, but now with Shell/Pennzoil being his sponsor maybe he can be himself.

As boring as the sport may be becoming, I'm still an avid fan, and most likely always will be.

The 00 wreck was pretty awesome. In fact, it was the only cool thing that happened all weekend. :smash:

I'm all for safety. But they need to remember why people watch the sport in the first place. It's like the NFL telling players they can't tackle each other any more because it's dangerous. There is always a level of danger involved - epsecially NASCAR. I mean, just look at their history.

Go for the safety stuff, but use some of that NASCAR $$$ and find a way to keep it interesting at the same time. Otherwise eventually you'll have nobody to keep "safe" at all.

    • I'd change the fluid and start there.   198F is nothing for the 8L90.  They typically operate 180-200F stock.
    • Looking for help!   2019 GMC Sierra 1500 - 5.3l 4x4 8l90 61k miles - truck is in Arizona, was over 110 outside on Monday when this whole situation transpired. Never had any major issues with transmission until this point:   Truck sat outside my construction office for approx 1 hour idling before I realized, ran around the job site wrapping some things up for the day and then left. Went to get food and sat in the drive through for approx 30 minutes idling. As soon as I pull out of the drive through and onto the main road, rear tires lock up and feels like transmission fell out of the truck. Shifted to park, shut the truck off and tried again, same thing happened. Was able to reverse into parking lot (truck slammed into reverse). Let the truck sit turned off for 10 minutes before trying again, but it continued to happen. Towed truck back to my house. Highest the trans temps reached was 198.   Friday, after work I start looking into the situation. Truck sat in my driveway untouched all week. Truck is now driving like normal, transmission doesn’t get over 185 degrees when trying to heat it up. Got up to 60 multiples times with no issues, no issues accelerating, only down shifted hard into first one time at 185 degrees. Does anyone have any insight? Never through a code or a check engine light. Truck has never been used to tow either. No transmission services at this point.
    • Atlas won.   I know better, but I did it anyway. I took a compressed air line with a chuck and rubber tip and jammed it in the open EGR port. The port was clear as far as I could see, and as far as I could poke with a flexible wire, but that doesn't mean it's not clogged.   Compressed air blew back at me along with a cloud of black. Oops. I didn't have the rubber tip seated in there all the way. Jammed it up in there some more and squeezed the chuck. PSI was set to 120. Poof! It blew back at me again. Third time...pfffffttssssssspffffffsssfffffff, face full of carbon, and then, kind of a thud..and the air stopped spraying back at me. It was now exiting the exhaust with a low shhhhhh sound as it flowed through the pipe. Something broke free. I pressurized the port again, and air flowed.   Made my day.   Long story short on this problem, it's fixed. Something was really blocking the EGR passages down low, and compressed air blew it apart. I don't recommend this as who knows what debris was sent where. But it's allowed me to move forward, mentally, and onto the next problems I need to get this little S-Blazer going down the road properly again.
    • Your truck lowered, looks good. I'm happy with the stance on this. I may need the extra ground clearance given my location/situation.
