Quick one for you engine tuners when i remove my computers (Nelson tuned 93 hot tune) to get my oil changed when i reinstall them do they need to relearn my driving style????? How long can i leave them out of my truck before they loose their memory, i don't think they have a internal battery.Last where is the information for the engine hours and mileage stored.

Thanks confused.gifconfused.gif

Mileage and Engine hours are NOT stored in the ECM. I have switched mine back and forth a couple of times and they do not change. I believe the mileage is stored in a module in the Instrument cluster, I am guessing the Engine hours is stored there too.

Anytime the PCM is disconnected (or main battery) from the vehicle , the PCM/ECM will need to "re-learn" your vehicle, mods, octane, how you drive, etc. That does take some time, but not a big deal.

your "learned" parameters, such as fuel trims, amount of airflow through the MAF, etc etc is all stored in the ECM.

so once you disconnect the ECM from the power source, it will lose that info... as omega said... but it will all be relearned in about 50 miles of driving.
