I have a 1991 chevy K1500 350 and I was wondering does a Cold air intake system make a overall difference. If anyone has installed one, did you feel a difference, was it worth buying

not as big of a diff as it does on the newer motors. but it does make a small diff. im debating on weather 300 or so dollars is worth it. it will make a lil more noise especially when cold if that matters to you. sometimes theyll geve ya 1 more mpg (sometimes)

Naw yull be wasting your money and it will do little if any, it will sound like you have more power due to the air noise when you stomp it. Even if it gives you 1 more mpg you will be stomping the pedal more to here the air noise, so you will be getting less mpg. :D. Dont believe the gains advertised on the product, 10-20 more hp, yeah right

It varys depending on the vehicle, how you drive, and what other mods you have done to your vehicle. On mine, slight increase in throttle response, perhaps a tad more HP at the higher RPM's, and gave the engine more of a growl at WOT. But on a mostly stock vehicle, you'd likely still need to throw it on a Dyno to see any noticable increases in power.

I'm going to put my money towards a tune. I like things quiet.

Definately Tune first, then everything else later. But the tune actually made my truck a bit louder. You can hear the exhaust/engine when accelerating at lower speeds a bit more now. Not something I noticed until I went back to a stock muffler.

You just can't win! :sigh:

Of course thats all minor and it's still pretty darn quiet.

Had an employee that put one of those "torque tube" intakes on his PU. It sounded like an old 4 bbl with the air filter cover tuned upside down. :D I borrowed it ONCE for a quick errand when my truck was being serviced, I thought everyone was looking at me. Couldn't wait to bring it back. I prefer a sleeper.

not a bit, but it looks cool when if you pop the hood.
I think on his TBI engine an open element air cleaner would look a lot better than any CAI and cost about 10x less.
