Does the 6.2L in the Silverado produce 403hp like in the Sierra Denali? If this really happens I might trade my V-Max in for a newer Silverado with the 6.2L and 6 speed automatic.

Yep!

But the 6.2 is only available in the crew-cabs.

Can u order the truck already? Is this Silverado with the 6.2L going to be called Vortec Max? Are they going to stop making the 6.0?

Yep!

What? It is not going to be available in an extended cab?

Not according to the order guides,or anything we've seen at the dealership.

Hopefully they offer it in an extended cab and that would be awesome. The Silverado is now way more powerful than the Tundra, will it still have the 4 Second Delay?

NOO!!! I should have waited. This makes me so angry. I should just order a new one... my truck has been sitting at the dealer for a month already.

It is the rear end ratio....the 6.2 still only comes with a 3:42 rear end.

doesnt seem like as many trucks are being offered with the 4:10s either.

and the 6L is now offered with just 3:73s but has a higher tow rating than the same motor for 2008 with 4:10s. must be something in the final drive ratio in the new 6 speed tranny.

The 6.2/6-speed has some shifting issues discussed at length in various threads but I'm not aware that it ever had the same 4-second delay reported in other engines. One complaint was the transmission stubbornly trying to lug up moderate inclines in 6th with the engine groaning or surging. Another one was the transmission not downshifting at speeds above 35 when you depressed the pedal down quickly. When you pushed the pedal further, it finally responds, jumping all the way down into 2nd with the engine screaming at 5 grand. Don't confuse this with a 4 second delay cause it would downshift immediately if you crammed the pedal down. It was the all-or-nothing situation on freeway on-ramps that frustrated some of us.

Well, I'm happy to report that a dealer transmission download took care of that. Not only did the problem disappear but the overall drivability at city speeds greatly improved. Now it's very responsive to inclines and pedal position. Once you're on the highway and up to speed, it responds differently, still holding 6th on minor upgrades less than 6% but popping down a gear when it should.

When you do floor it to pass, you do feel a slight pause as the timing retards and the power eases in to protect the driveline. It only takes a second. If you really want to haul ass out of the hole with no lag, drop it in manual, thumb down the gears until your just over 3 grand and then punch it to pass. By the time I'm side-by-side, I'm going so much faster than they are you can barely catch a glimpse of their jaw dropping.

Most of you will be really pleased with this transmission.

Thumb down ? Does the A6 in the truck come with paddle shifters on the steering wheel like the Corvette?
