jman_07 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 So i dont understand the Autotrac feature on my 2002 Chevy Suburban in AUTO mode does it sense when the rear slips and sends power to the front as needed??? I was told in Auto it works like an all-wheel drive system in that it can transfer very little or alot of torque to the front depending on the slippage. And in that mode if the rear tires spin around a corner power is added to the front without the hoping or skipping like in 4HI or 4Lo. Is this true?? Also does it have any type of throttle sensors in Auto Mode so for example if from a stop the sensor can see the throttle is being applied to fast it automatically sends some power to the front to prevent slipping??? Please help Thanks..
redvett Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 In Auto the front axle is engaged, when the speed sensors in the front axles detect slippage between the rear axle is sufficient it engages a clutch in the transfer-case. This is instantaneous and mostly unnoticed while driving. From a stand still if slippage occur-es the transfer-case will engage and you may feel it engaging.
