hummm is right....I may just buy this product. But something so small how can it up the power. Stage 2 sounds good to me because when the subwoofer hits in my truck the volts flucuate like 2.....well if I do buy it at that price it isn't much then I will write a review take pics of my cluster before and after. Are you thinking of getting this or just stumbled upon it? Does it work with the silverado?

Someone mentioned that in the newer GM stuff the PCM controls the alternator. That must be why some people here have mentioned the odd movements/readings of their voltage indicator gauge. The PCM is turning off/down the alternator output for MPG gain.

 

Of course, there is not substitute for AMPS.

 

I used to work on a computer system that used magnetic core memory. It required 5VDC at 60AMPs to drive it. Used welding cables for connections.

Hmmm...don't think I buy it. I read the reviews of the people who bought it and some say "start's up better"...your alt is not doing anything until the motor is running and your battery isn't going to store more cold cranking amps because of this doohickey. Another guy says "it shifts better"...WTF does this thing have to do with your tranny shifting. Sounds like a waste of 15 bucks...I'll just go buy a case of beer and watch.

Why wouldn't someone just get a higher amperage alternator?

 

The easy upgrade for 99+ LS based trucks is to replace the 110amp with a stock 145amp. The 145amp bolts right in place of the 110 without any modifications. The only requirement is to get a longer belt, most parts counters actually show the two belt sizes based on alternator amperage.

 

If there's a need to supply stable voltage for acquistion and/or engine management electronics, a little plug-in probably isn't a good solution for a high-performance voltage regulator.

I think part of the theory is that there is almost always a slight voltage drop. Even if you are pushing amps, the voltage may not be there the farther you get away from the battery.

 

I've also seen a "voltage kit" that increases the voltage to the in-tank fuel pump for greater output. It does not mention anything about not-greater pump lifespan.

Does it mention about the damage it will do to the PCM,and any other electrical components from higher voltage? I don't think so.
