Michelin Ltx A/t2 Or Goodyear Wrangler Silentarmor

I am looking for a new set of tires. Two of the tires that are near the top of my list are Michelin LTX A/T2 and Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor.

I have an 02 Silverado 4x4 extended cab regular(short) box.

I live in Minnesota and I pull a boat (medium size aluminum) or a 2 place ATV trailer when we go up north...otherwise it is just driving around the city.

Who has these tires and what do you think of them?

Does my location and driving habits make one of them a better choice?

Thanks.

The SilentArmor is a little better in the snow from what I've read and about $20.00 a tire cheaper. They are both excellent tires.

Michelin.... I have an uncle in the business and he says to never buy a set of wranglers.

Why? and Why?

cuz the silent armors ride like crap. get the michelins you won't be disappointed.

silent armor SUCK...way overpriced and will make about 1/3 of their mileage claim...I replaced with BFG's on my jeep and was super happy

When I bought the truck, it was sold with a set of Michelin ATX M/S. Are these good ones ? I may do some mild offroading this summer, wondered if I had the right rubbers on

If, by mild off-roading, you mean a dirt road or your backyard you'll be fine. The LTX M/S is a highway tire appropriate for all-season use ON ROAD. If you're doing anything very challenging, you'll be better off with a tire better suited for the purpose.

Based upon you having had a set of silent armors on your truck?

I'm not defending one brand over any other brand. There are too many threads like this that just end up with mostly opinion conjecture and very little first-hand experience.

Was there no tread-wear warranty provided with your set, as goodyear indicates they currently have a 50K warranty? Did the retailer not honor such warranty?

I could see not recommending to anyone for a new purchase, but (then again you have free choice) you are saying that you had gotten less than 20K miles on a set and didn't get them replaced under warranty, if there was one.

Which BFG's did you get?

Oh there was one, it was 75,000 miles, which was the main reason I bought them (they were also about $30 cheaper each at the time)...It royally pissed me off they advertised them to be longlasting when they were bald after about 20k and rode like crap AND were noisy too as they got older...

I got them replaced, but only got about 1/3 of my money....what a rip! I got BFG Long Trails I think, I traded that jeep for this sierra though...

Read the reviews at tire rack or discount tire...there are tons of scathing reviews, including mine

Goodyear tires are crap. I will never buy them again. Michelin makes a good tire. I prefer Cooper, great tire at fair price made in the USA!!
