Was just wondering if anybody has taken off the air dam from 07 and up GM's? I notice alot of people have scraped them were I live and just wanted if there would be a problem as a result. I want to ditch mine because I'm only gonna end up tearing it off anyway.

Search and ye shall find.

Yes, many people have taken them off but, if you use the search feature, you'll find more detail.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but does the misssing air dam seem to have any effect on the gas mileage or DOD?

I didn't notice any difference in mileage around town. I also didn't notice any ill effect at the Department of Defence....

Department of defense  I was thinking Displacement on Demand.........but I guess that's the wrong term. How about AFM?

Yeah, I'm not really worried adout mileage. The truck is parked for 6 out of 12 days and it won't see the highway a whole lot. I was just thinking about cooling issues but I see so many people have them taken off it can't be a problem.

I guess I just like the look of the Air Damn, I guess that's why I made mine a little longer. However, I have a 99' so it's a totally different look.

I took my air dam off and lost 4MPG.

Sorry daddy, I call bs.

I took mine off and didn't notice a bit of mpg difference. Granted my driving is about 60/40 city/hwy. Still though, if that were true I should be seeing some sort of difference. I'm still getting about 17 mpg.

Says in the owners manual that it can be taken off when offroading. It also says this,

Notice: Operating your vehicle for extended periods without the front fascia lower air dam installed can cause improper air flow to the engine. Always be sure to replace the front fascia air dam wen you are finished off-road driving.

I have left mine on so far, but I also havent done any offroading either.

Hahaha. You'd be right.

I meant it as a joke and meant to post right back after that post but I forgot to. I still have mine on. I had it off for one day and put it back on. It just amuses me that anyone thinks that that little 2" of plastic crap actually would save any appreciable MPG's or effect the airflow to the engine. I can't imagine that removing it is any worse for airflow than adding the All Terrain grill which has an extra slat, the Denali "Cheese Grater" grill, or the GM Accessories grill.

I'll have to remember to finish my jokes off in the future.

lol, I agree completely. I took mine off after a month or so and have had absolutely no problems or complaints since then. It looks sooooo much better too.
