Intermittent Wiper Problem

Recommended Posts

Hey Fellas - Newbie here. I just bought a used 2007 Sierra 1500 SLT NBS and the intermittent wipers aren't working. The low, high, and mist functions work fine. When I turn on any one of the 5 intermittent wiper settings, it wipes one time and that is it.

The truck is still under warranty, so I can take it back to the dealer if I have to, just trying to save the trip. Any ideas?

Thanks

I thought I had the rainsense wipers too, but I found out there may be a problem in the pouring down rain. They wipe once and nothing more until I change the setting or move to the low/high positions.

I have the SLT package, and the CE1 option shows on the package for the rainsense wipers, but they don't appear to be working.

The increments for the wipers adjusts the sensitivity of the "rain sense." If there's not enough water on the windshield to set it off, they'll only swipe the one time, to wipe off the water it "sees" (or to let you know that you changed the setting) and it'll stop.

When I first got my truck (w/ the rain sense wipers), they kind of annoyed me. ("When I want the d@mn things on, I'll turn 'em on!!") After a while, though, I got used to them and I like 'em now. Yeah, it's another thing that can go wrong.. But, for now, they're working and I think they're kind of neat... (at least until they break - ha!)

With them on / active, try spraying the windshield with a waterhose. If they only swipe once, even if you're continuing to spray the windshield, take it back to the dealer.

Oh! One other thing to note : If you start the truck and it has been setting out in the rain, you will more than likely need to either tap "mist" or readjust the setting to activate the rain sense. Apparently, if there's already water on the windshield when you start the truck, the "rain sense" doesn't read it right or something and they won't activate..

True! But, if it was a small cup, it might still only swipe once, thus leaving you solution..... "inadequate"...

So, let's see if I got this right. On intermitent it only works intermitently, when it should be intermitently working full time. When it's on full time it doesn't work intermitently. Since it has rain sensor, it only intermitently works intermitently when it is intermitently raining, although if it is raining full time it should work full time.

Glad we got that straightened out!:lol:

What about peeing on the window? Would that work?

No, no, there is no GM approved pee. However, you could drool on it, but it would have to be Genuine GM Dexdrool or you would void the warranty. Using the wrong color of drool causes all kinds of trouble!

That only works on GMCs...A Chevy has common sense wipers as well...and they reach out and slap the shit out of you for things like that
