I was looking into tinting my front side windows on my truck since I will be moving to Florida soon and I was wondering if anyone used the stuff Wal-Mart has, I thought about buying it from there and doing it myself but wasn't sure if it would be worth it to do myself or just pay $80 and have it done professionaly ??

Definitely get them done by a PROFESSIONAL!!!

I got my 2008 Sierra front windows done at one of my local accessory shops for $65 with a lifetime warranty and it was done within an hour, I dropped it off and my wife and I went and had lunch at a fast food place and when we got back the truck was sitting out front waiting for me. by the time you buy the tint and spend the time and hassles of doing it yourself you'll be glad to took it to a pro to get it done right the first time.

If you do move to the Orlando area, I know a great tint guy who did mine, costs a little bit more but he's pretty quick and uses high quality film...I had all 5 windows (back glass, rear doors, front doors) and a front windshield strip done for 130.

Tint...AAAAAAAGHHGHGHGH!

I've tried it THREE times now. Even took the window out and laid it on a bench once. I still can't get right.

It's cheap enough for me to pay somebody else to do it.

LOL!

Unless you have EXPERIENCE installing tint... pay somebody to do it. It's not an easy to do thing unless you know what you are doing.

+1 this is a job better left to the professional.

Ths sad thing is... a good tinter makes it LOOK like anyone could do it. Sort of like a Las Vegas magician. But it ain't so!

Well, the guy that did mine said he'd been doing it about 30 years now, so he's got plenty of practice. Very nice guy too, has a sweet 99 Silverado with NBS wheels (I think the 20s)...He had some good stories to tell, like he's only broken ONE window in his 30 years of tinting and it was because the mirror was stuck pretty good and the customer wanted a full tint going across so off comes the glass.

I do it my self. I buy from a local tint shop that sells precut tint on ebay and I buy off of there for my truck. I paid like $25 for my front windows and they fit and turned out perfect. You just have to take your time and make sure everything is clean!!

I haven't actually done tint, but have done those screen protector things on my hand held video game systems, and lemme tell you, while it isn't the absolute hardest thing I have ever done, it isn't the easiest by far.

I've done tinting before. Back in high school I did it for half price for people. I naturally took good to the skill, and gave the local tint shops a run for the money

I hardly do it anymore though, and I noticed it on the last vehicle I tinted ( my Silverado in Aug 07 ) I f'd up twice and that got my patience going more, which lead to another f up :D Cutting the film yourself is the hardest part, I hate it. Thats why for my F-150 I will be purchasing a pre-cut kit off of ebay and install it. But the rolls at walmart is still good stuff. But 1 roll only has enough for 2 windows.

I would definitely take it to a pro. Your front door windows are very important, and you definitely need them to roll up & down correctly without the tint messing up and getting destroyed. Theres quite a bit involved in the tinting process..

I would recommend professional. Ask around if you know anyone with tinted windows and hopefully you can get a good recomendation. Also check out tintdude.com you may find some helpful information there. Good luck whatever you decide.
