What do you guys use your 1500 for? And why did you pick your 1500 over a 2500. I know I did mine for the gas and I don't tow as often. I like having the 4wd for the winter here in New England.

Its what I need. Anything bigger would have been overkill for me. I probably could go with a midsize even, but there are various occasions I tow so I really need the V8. That and I got my nicely equipped Z71 for less than I could have gotten a lesser equiped Tacoma..

Don't tow that often, only occasional bobcat 2-3 times a year.

Don't haul any significant weight, but more often than not needed the space to haul stuff.

and 2WD, just wouldn't really be using it for over 99.9999999999% of the year. Besides plenty of friends with 4x's or other off-road vehicles.

It fit my needs. I wanted something that would give me more flexibility to go wherever I wanted to go (up to a point) on road trips. I got tired of being in a car, getting part of the way up some back-road and having to turn around, because it got too rocky and/or rough, or there was a creek that was a LITTLE too deep for me to feel comfortable taking the car through...

When I bought the truck, I was more likely to haul people than stuff. So, the crew-cab, short-bed fit the bill perfect (and it fit in my garage -- just barely, but it fit). Now, I just bought a house. So, I may be wishing for a longer bed here soon. But, I doubt it. Anything that I will probably need to haul should be haul-able from Home Depot or Lowes to my house, even with the tailgate down. Just tie it down / in good and go... and if it's too big for that, let them deliver it! :)

Like someone else said, anything bigger than the 1500 would've been overkill for me.. I probably could've gotten by with a Colorado or Canyon. But, neither of them were even a temptation to look at, really.

I picked the 2500 over the 1500 because bigger is better. :) Just kidding, I needed it for snow plowing my driveway and towing my camper.

Gas mileage mainly, my 2500hd sucked too bad on gas unloaded to keep around. Plus I get a LOT more compliments on my 1500 than I ever did on the 2500hd.

That said, my only gripe is the load handling capabilities...I had 2,300 lbs in the bed the other day and it was sagging pretty good, my hitch was about 3" off the ground...But I had no lack of go-power and didn't have much problems stopping (didn't go too fast either, max 55 mph going down I-4 about 10 miles).

I am a firm believer that every household needs a truck. Or at least a vehicle that can tow or haul something. Her Impala is nice, but can't haul a fridge or pull a boat. I probably could have gotten by with an S-10 or Colorado or whatever they're called now. But those trucks always seemed crowded inside, and sometimes underpowered.

On the other hand, a 2500 is just overkill for most people. Unless you're hauling cattle, plowing snow, or pulling a monster camper, it's unnecessary.

I'm not exactly sure if I count as a 1500, but I got mine because of a)price and b)availability. I couldn't find a good used 2500hd 2wd for a decent price, so I settled for my 1500HD. If I could have gotten a CC/SB 2500HD for about the same price I got my truck for, I would have.

I looked at the 1500 vs the 2500 and chose the 1500 as it met my needs. It has a tow rating (2500 pounds above what I need for my TT) that I wanted, plus a strong engine. At the time the 2500 was also about 5K more then the one I chose, and I could not see why I would spend the extra amount for more power when it was not required. So far in the 3 years I have had the truck, I have never once said that I wish I had a larger truck. Someday I may get a larger trailer, but for now (and the foreseeable future), I will do just fine with what I chose.

I never haul anything but ass. All I ever tow is my boat and it weighs less than 3K wet including trailer. I just like having a truck.

I drove a 2500HD before this truck. I had it mostly for my big slide in camper and pulling a boat or motorcycle trailer. For a daily driver, on city streets all the way to work, it sucked. 4-6 mpg with the 8.1, and the suspension beats on you day after day. I love my 1500, and I picked up a 23' travel trailer today, GVW 6500, and it pulls great!!

I loved my 2500s too, but for a daily driver, it's a 1500 for me.

This.

Except I don't have a boat or ATV anymore. So I haul...Uh...Mulch from Home Depot.

I got the 1500 RCSB because I dont need a 3/4 ton, it looks cooler than a long box and gets pretty good mileage. Also because with the trailer setup we use for our mowing company. I can turn around in a intersection with a trailer when hooked up the the short boxes. My brothers and dad all have a RCSB. One is a 2500HD ext cab for the big stuff and my parents business.

I don't have any problems making a U-turn in a standard 3-lane intersection or a really wide 2-lane with a concrete median with my ECRB and a 12' landscape dual axle trailer.
