Adding An Aftermarket Muffler To Stock Ss Exhaust

I own a '07 Silverado Classic with a 5.3L and I really enjoy my truck. I have added an Airade Jr. intake kit and want to give my truck a little more growl. I don't want to spend $500 for a cat-back system in SS. I can get a Magnaflow that is about the same length as the stock muffler with 3" openings for just under $100. My question is can you stretch the 2.75" SS factory exhaust to mate up with the 3" without splitting it? Ideally the in pipe would fit nicely inside the muffler and the tail pipe would go over the outside of the muffler exit to reduce flow restrictions.

Muffler shops have a tool to do exactly what you are asking about here. The downside is they probably have to take the pipes off the truck to stretch them, as the tools I've seen, were all "bench" tools (not portable).

There is a tool that expands pipe and all you need is a wrench so they shouldn't have to remove the existing exhaust.

Doesnt magnaflow make anything in a 2.75? Not too sure why they would use such a odd size.

Magnaflow comes in either 2.5" or 3". I have seen the "pipe stretchers" I was just wondering if SS will stretch line regular steel tubing?
