Ok, where do I begin?

Let me start by saying that I grew up an avid golfer, even played on the golf team in high school (save the smartass comments  ). But a few years after high school, other things took priority (women and partying... ) and I gave it up. I started playing again at about age 28, but only a few times a year and it was just an excuse to drink beer in the sun. I haven't played now for about 7-8 years, but someday I will again. Anyway, now on to my rant....

I had about 1-1/2 hours to kill tonight so I went to Dick's Sporting goods to "browse" and since I knew that when I decide to start playing golf again I would be needing a new set of clubs, I started browsing the golf clubs. It didn't take me long to see a $700 driver and I starting checking it out and I noticed it said "Made in China" on it. Then I decided to check out which brands were made where. EVERY SINGLE BRAND is made in China or "assembled in USA with Chinese parts". I am talking about ALL of the top major brands here...Callaway, Titleist, Nike, King Cobra, Taylor Made...etc...EVERY single one!!! I thought I was in the fricken toy dept at f**king WalMart for Christ's sake!!! This really pissed me off...so I decide to walk around and look at other stuff and I swear to God 90% of everything in that store is made in f**king China.

At this rate China will be the biggest superpower on the globe and the USA will be nothing more than another 3rd world country, completely dependant on the rest of the world.

Does this piss anyone else off?

:thumbs::tear::lol:

I guess my kids when I have kids arent going to have any toys unless everything is made and assembled in the US!

Sadly it's not just toys. It's everything...including MANY parts in domestic trucks, including GM's!!!

I do IT work (computers, printers and networks) for one of the largest banks in the US.

Almost ALL of the stuff is made in China.

HP computers, Lexmark printers, Cisco routers, etc... etc... etc ...

Kinda like the joke....

Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Like it or not, we depend on China for just about everything. They pretty much own us right now. We send them cardboard boxes, and they send them back full of stuff. If we do anything to piss them off, they'll stop selling to us, and then "POOF" we're screwed. Thank God for Wal Mart, right?

VMax2007, to answer your question, it does piss me off. Not just products made in China but import goods of any kind.

Dan you are correct. Just imagine if the Chinese Govt issued an order at this very moment to turn every freight liner and every plane around that was headed for the US and they cut us off cold turkey. Our shelves would be empty in a matter of hours. We would survive but it would take several years for US companies to get their production back up but in the long run, I cannot help but think we would be better off if China did cut us off.

I look at almost every item I pick up to buy. Even socks. Sometimes you can find US made stuff but you really have to look for it. Shoot, even the orange juice I buy contains juice from all US oranges. It cost about .30 to .50 more, but I am willing to pay it just so I can support US production.

And if I feel this way about a 1/2 gal of orange juice, do I need to tell you my feelings about a $35,000+ vehicle. See my sig.

Wake up America or we will all be sitting at home in our house full of Chinese product wondering what happened to our jobs.:tear::lol:

Ok, Ok, take a deep breath, and another, and another. Ok, I am calming down again.

Not to add to your ranting but I was thinking that we here in this country borrow about a billion dollars a day to bring oil into this country. Why does the US feel that we need to use other country's resources?

Does the US really think that buying parts from other country's for production really help the world go around? Is it like some secret piece treaty or bond that we have with other countrys that we have to purchase a certain dollar amount to stay at piece with neighboring counrty's?

Shouldnt we be more concerned about what this country can do for itself as far as prodcution instead of buying out of country? I know that there are more variables that need to be considered, I know that we wouldnt be asking China to supply this and that and pay more for it.

Now my wife used to live near Canada in Massena, NY... I think thats how you spell it... Anyways. Up there there used to be a GM plant that is now closed and a renolds company which last I heard it was closing and I am sure that it is closed by now. That is a dying area. My in-laws have a house up there still that they have been trying to sell for the past 4 years...

And its only going to get worse...

Sorry this is a long post!

Yeah, all of that sucks. If things keep going in this direction, pretty soon we'll all have to move to China or India to get a job.

My thing is, and I'm just speaking about automobiles in this case, if you are a car buyer, do your research and buy what's right for you. If it just so happens it is an Accord, or a Malibu or a Tata, so be it, as long as you are sure it is what you are buying because it is the vehicle you need. I hate it when someone says they are buying foreign because it is inherently better.

To make a long story short, I'm saying if you chose a foreign car because it suits you better, I have no problem with that, but if you buy foreign because foreign cars are better and domestics suck, it really aggravates the crap out of me.

Rant Over

Believe it or not, WalMart used to actually heavily promote stuff that was made in the USA. Their slogan was "Buy American". After Sam Walton died, his kids pretty much got rid of that to make more profit.

I saw something on TV the other day. A consumer show was talking about "domestic" products. Fish with a label "Product of Canada" on it. That label was for the cardboard box the fish were in. The fish was from, you guessed it, China. Its not just the USA, the whole f*cking world is centered around China and India.

A friend of mine worked for Dell customer phone support. He just got canned because Dell moved 1500 North American jobs to India. He managed to survive the first round of layoffs about 4 years ago when 5000 jobs went to India. I do believe Michael Dell is an American. Walmart is an American company. All these companies are f*cking us over and when the sh*t hits the fan, and it will, we are the ones that are gonna pay with our money, jobs, vehicles, houses etc.

When all the mom and pop stores, and all the little manufacturing places in the USA are closed down because we didn't suppor them and we bought from Walmart instead, that's when we will regret not supporting the items not made in the USA. When China has no competition from other producers, they will have no reason to sell to us so cheap. Once they realize they have no competition, you will still get the cheap made garbage that they produce for us, it just won't be cheap priced anymore. It's just like the Saudi's, why would they want to increase the supply of oil, that would only drop the price and lower their profits? They have very little, if any competition.

:tear: Dare to get me started. You know, what kill's me is, if we can see what the f**k is going on, and we know what needs to be done, why can't our government. Are they so afraid that China, and whoever else will shut us out. Walk through your house and look at things, I bet 99% of the sh*t is made outside of the USA. The clothes on our backs, bicycles, crayons, shoes, pots and pans, the list just goes on and on.

The USA used to be a leader in everything. I would not want to live in any other country, but deep down in my heart, I believe that we are becoming somewhat communist. That my friends, scares the sh*t out of me. I'm not going to

anymore, don't want to get a political thing going on.

'cause we have the best politicians that MONEY CAN BUY. And most of that money comes from China, funneled thru lobbyists.

Remamber the Buddists Temple scandal a few years ago? I think it was in Arizona.

Some politicians and lobbyists were caught with GROCERY BAGS full of cash, which had been sent by CHINA to be used to influence legislation that would be favorable to CHINA.

Sadly, it looks like it worked.
