Oil's true value right now is around $50-$60 a barrel. It's an unregulated futures market and zipperheads running the price up to turn a buck that's the problem.

I was drinking this weekend and watching CNN, they have a series called 'were out of oil', or something along those lines. From the most part what I gathered is they were showing what a catastrophe in the middle east with oil could do to the globe in general in a year from now, like an attack on Saudi Arabia for example. What was really cool is learning about Brazil and their sugar cane ethanol. 40% of their consumed fuel is sugar cane, which is 7x more potent than corn ethanol I guess. Another cool thing is they are completely independent on oil. They had a real bad time during the 70's oil embargo until recently, but now their doing really good I guess.

They also mentioned how the Saudis are complying with the oil need, like your link..of course they are it's money in the bank for them!! Whats weird is how much oil is in Saudi Arabia exactly is a govt secret or some bull. Were not the only ones being hit with these prices, I bet Automakers are on the ball with making electric, hydro, ethanol, etc cars. They interviewed Bob Lutz and he seemed pretty confident and happy with the Volt.

We can also thank groups like the EPA for the lack of state side refineries, they mentioned that as well. I'd like to know the future of the pickup truck and SUV. :D I can honestly say this is my last truck as I really have no need for one for the most part, but it's definitely nice to have. I'm by no means selling it, but my next purchase will be a 4 cylinder shit box :thumbs:

And that CNN crap was all about scaring up ratings.

Werd. The back bone of the show was "What if" scenario's that take place over year from now... {insert "wtf" smiley}

It's the job of liberal media to keep telling us that the wings have fallen off of the plane... we're on fire... and headed straight for the ground. It makes them feel relevant and "European".

Now if the environmental nutjobs that have crippled this countries own oil production got off our backs we could be independent as well. ANWR, north dakota/montana, gulf of mexico near our own shore line etc. Possibly billions of barrels sitting under the Dakotas and Montana.

Dont worry if you think it's bad now wait until prince obama becomes president and slaps a 2.00 per gallon tax on fuel, he is already starting to show his hand on the energy crisis once again blaming all of us with trucks and suvs as the main source of the problem. I love these hypocrit politicians like Barrack and Al Gore who polute more in one week then i do in a decade!

I don't wanna turn this political, but my God...did you hear what he said today? "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

Here you go...THIS will make you angry.

:D Yes it does. What a crock of sh*t. :fume:

What REALLY bakes my noodle about it, is the fact that the finance people on CNN/MSNBC/Fox/etc all KNOW it...And they still keep on about the supply/demand thing...Even when they know it doesn't apply to a commodity when people that can't actually use/store said commodity are allowed to trade on it's futures.

Nope...CNN, Fox, and the others in the main stream media must keep on bowing to their corporate overlords and running fluff pieces on gas prices and scareball special reports about how we were warned while economists shake their heads.

What's REALLY going to suck is when the bubble pops. Sure, gas prices will drop through the floor, but our dollar is already uber-weak and it's going to get NASTY if the oil market goes in the tank. It's a no-win situation really :lol:

At least...That's my take on the whole thing anyway. I'm no expert or economist though. I hope I'm wrong.
