2002 Factory Fog Lights

Recommended Posts

I have never really looked before, but I happen to take a close look at the factory fog lights on my 2002 Silverado and they do not have any sort of lens cover...they just have the bulb and the reflector...nothing protecting it.

Is this the way they came from the factory or did the covers disappear?

Thanks.

The problem you are describing is a small plague for the foglights of your model year. My '02 Sierra experienced it, as well as two friends of mine with '02s. Hell, one of my subs has an '06 Escalade and both of his fog covers have come off.

Yes, your foglights had covers on them originally. They tend to fall off, and even when on, tend to trap moisture within. I replaced both of my '02s foglights with ones off EBay....but my one buddy with an '02 Silvy has been driving around with his fogs missing their covers for years and they still burn (go figure).

OK, both of my fog lights still work...without the covers.

Any body know the part number for the covers?

Where is a good place to get the covers?

Thanks.

You don't want to go through GM for replacements. They don't sell just the covers. I lost a cover, called the dealer and they wanted to sell me one fog light for $112. Found a man on eBay that sold only the covers, had either amber or clear... but just did a search and couldn't find them any more. They do have replacement lights for a whole lot cheaper then the dealer. Just do a search for gm fog lights in the motors section.

Good luck!
