Are you getting a check engine light? Pulled any DTC's?

No, can the timing be off? If so can it be adjusted or is it controlled bt the computer.

Another thing, are you sure its not a knock? It would sound like a diesel truck, and the knock only last a few seconds to a minute. If so you may have CSK(Cold Start Knock). or commonly piston slap. Do a search, its been discussed a numerous times and is common, but I assumed the problem was corrected by the '05

No, it happens as soon as the truck starts, a couple of seconds and then it stops, its a knock or a ping, same thing arent they, if it was supposed to be corrected, was it doing harm, and can GM rectify problem, still under warranty.

Knocking and pinging are not the same. Knock is usually referred to as cold start knock. It starts when you first start the engine cold, and lasts a few seconds then goes away. This sounds like what you have, and is normal. Pinging refers to pre-detonation of the gas, and usually requires you to go to a higher octane, which burns slower.
