2" Leveling Lift Yes Or No

I have a 96 GMC 2500 HD long box extcab 4x4. I am going to be getting 33's for it. I want to do a 2" lift. I have noticed that you can get leveling kits and they are a dime a dozen. But I have also heard they are realy hard on your cv's and other parts. Is it worth spending the extra doe and getting a real 2" lift. If so where can I get one. I have only found one from skyjacker. It looks good. Any advice and help are appreciated. Thanks guys

You do not have to buy any kits, you can lift it using the stock suspension...The torsion bars are adjustable and "aftermarket leveling kits" just increase the range you can lift it, which is bad on your CVs.

So I don't have to get a lift to fit 33's on my truck. Will I get bad tire rub if I try to wheel it. I don't wheel hard just pleasure cruising and getting loads of fire wood.

You should be able to fit them by just cranking your t-bars about 1.5". That's about the max you can crank before you start putting extra stress on front end components (cv's, tie rod ends, ball joints, pitman and idler arms etc.)

If you want to be sure that you won't have any rub, you can go with a 2" or 3" body lift, or a true 3" suspension lift. It's worth the extra money to do it right the first time, since if you cheap out in the beginning, you'll run into problems down the road (aka you'll spend even more money, and it still won't be done right).

ive got my torsion bars cranked up and have a 2 inch body lift and my 33x12.50 tires on 9.75 wide wheels still hit the back of the fender when i really beat on it so i rolled the lip back with a hammer and then rescrewed the flare to it, i also sawzalled 2 inches of the bottom corner of the front bumper off.
