You can powdercoat over chrome, they obviously have to be scuffed up well, but the powder will only last as long as the chrome, so make sure the chrome is in great condition, cause once the chrome peels off the wheel guess what also comes off with it..

De-Chroming wheels is actually not too pricey from what I've heard...

i have a white truck with the chrome wheels. i wanted something different and was thinking black. white would probably look a little  do u think white with black rims would look good. the only thing i was wondering was it has a charcoal gmc stripe down the side the dealer put on and i want it off anyway.. do u know the best way?

Do you mean pin striping on the side? Use a heat gun or a hair dryer to warm it up but not too much. If you keep it at the right temperature as your peeling it off it will come off in one piece. Then use some mineral spirits or bug and tar remover to get rid of any adhesive. And White with black wheels doesn't look bad, it really depends on the wheel design itself because you don't want it to look tottally generic. I've seen a white truck with wheels similar to mine showing slightly less drum/rotor but they where white center chrome lip and it looked very clean.
