Factory And Aftermarket Tint

Now that i have the liner done, im thinking about getting hte front windows tinted. The 3m tint that im looking at says it blocks 99% of UV rays = good! but does the factory tint, or not really the tint but the rear windows block the UV rays?

 

Im not sure if i should have them tint the whole truck, or just the front side windows...

My Single Cab came with a UV coating on the glass, back and sides, it's factory.

My truck came with the Solar-Ray tinting from the factory. I have been told that the Solar-Ray tinting does not block the UV rays. It is window tinting only.

Unless UV coating is new for 08 none of the manufacturers tints block uv rays. Most aftermarket tints will block 97% or better. If you didn't want you windows any darker in the sides or rear, you could find a tinter that carries clear tint. This will add the uv protection you want to the rest of your vehicle. It is very common to use clear tint in homes to help resist fading and it stays cooler in the summer with it installed. Same is true for your vehicle.... Andrew
