Has To Do With Smoking

My father in law smokes and with him being my in-law I have no

plan to give him any crap about smoking or my wife will give me

crap. Any way to my point...I have an 04 with bucket seats and

the Bose radio with the full console. The truck has no ash tray and

I need one as the in-law uses my truck and ashes out the window.

I have burns in the window seal and ashes down the side of the

truck. So the question is where is the ash tray installed in the

trucks with the full console? Any one post a picture to help me

see what I need to find? I know the "ash-cup" deal is easy way

to solve the problem but truck only has 2 cup holders as it is and

I am not looking to give one up if i can avoid it. Any help other

than "tell him not to smoke in truck" is welcome. I did have a

pretty good yelling match with my wife over it as it is and I have

made up my mind its not worth it to fight it.

Well first off if it was my truck and I didn't smoke then I wouldn't want anyone or permit anyone for that matter, smoking in it.

That being said here's what your looking for.

The ashtray holder is a rubber piece which is the top left side of the first picture.

I think you chose to argue with the wrong person. I would confront your father in law, and tell him how you feel about it. I mean, after all, it is your truck, and he should respect that. I smoke, but if I'm riding with someone who doesn't, then I won't smoke in their vehicle. just my .02. :D

The father in law was a DI in the marines and is about 6ft 6 and 300lbs. He and I dont

get along too well. My job keeps me out of town via air lines so my truck is here at

home while im gone. This is why I got into it with wife. She lets him use it when Im

gone. I talked to the in law and his answer was "drop and give me 20" . Thanks for the

picture. My truck is missing that section it just has an open area there with a rubber

liner in the bottom. I guess its off to ebay

It isn't his truck that he is depressing the value of. The truck is yours, and therefore YOU set the rules for your truck. I would tell him to quit smoking in your vehicle. He obviously knows that you are already intemidated by him.

Then you definately need to stand your ground. My old man was a marine, and one mean old s.o.b. You stand up to him, he will respect you more. I'm not encouraging you to fight him, but you will earn more of his respect confronting him face to face, instead of hiding behind his daughter. :D

What if your father in law decides he wants to take your truck off road while you are away and you keep finding the suspension damaged......are yoiu going to put a nice beefy lift on your truck to accomodate your father in law?.....its your truck, your rules.....if he does it like it too bad.....and that goes for your wife as well......sounds like you are in a not so good situation.

I dont mean any disrespect....by I wouldnt put up with that crap.....thats just me though.

Its not a fear thing,im 6ft 4 and 265lbs myself and he and I have mixed it

up a couple times as it is. He smokes and I dont but my wife also smokes

and I push her to quit. She also smokes in my truck so im out numbered

and to be honest if I can get an ash tray Im ok with it as its just not worth

fighting. No one smokes in my house and I mean no one so I have set

limits that people respect.

This is how you should fix you problem... Follow these steps....

1. Seems like the first thing you need to do is get the wife to quit smoking...

2. Trade your truck in for a new to you or brand new truck...(since it seems that you are in a tight spot with the truck you already have and the in-law has already made himslef comfortable...

3. With the new truck, grow some balls and tell the in-law no smoking in this truck or dont drive it...

If all else fails you can:

Option A: Just buy a ash tray...

Option B: Dont leave your truck where your father in law can get to it...

Option C: Trade it in for a useless car...

God Bless the United States Marine Corps - and all the men and women who have served this great country of ours!

If your father-in-law is going to drive your truck, then purchase the cup holder ash tray. It's removable. Or any other portable ash tray that fits in console. I can't believe that the console models don't have a built in ash tray. The Work Truck does.

I'd also buy him a carton of cigarettes and give him a hug and thank him for serving our country!

It is your truck so lay down the law. If your wife objects just tell her, "Don't let the front door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!" Problem solved.

The bad thing is your truck now worth several thousand less in resale vale becuase a non smoker will not touch your truck at resale time because it will smell like a monday morning bar until the day it is crushed.

Ive never seen the smokelessashtrays. However, A good ashtray for smoking in a truck is a simple 1/3rd to half full bottle of soda or water. you put the butt in the bottle when youre done and put the cap on. When it gets close to full, just throw the bottle away. It helps keep the smell down too.

Boot his ass out of your truck.

NOBODY smokes in my truck or house... I wouldn't care if he was the Pope for a day, I'd tell him not to smoke in the truck... or not let him use it. (His choice) The one being disrespectful in this situation is the guy that can't "manage" to drive across town without smoking a damn cigarette. I don't mind if somebody wants to smoke... but in my truck is not the place.
