Rear Seat Removal

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if it is possible to remove the rear seats in my truck. It's an extended cab - but I do not want the back seats in it. I tried googling this and couldn't find anything. Anyone done this before or heard of it?

Don't see why not,Just lift the seat bottoms up and unbolt it.

As a matter of fact it use to be an option on the GMT400/GMT800 trucks,You could have the rear seat deleted on extended-cabs (This also deleted the seat belts)

They just unbolt?

I thought for sure they'd be welded in or at least those bolts that you'd have to drill out?

No,They are not welded in,and you don't need to drill out any bolts.

From looking in my parts catalog it looks like there are three nuts on each side of the seat, and at least one,if not two, bolts in the middle of the seat that needs to be removed.

Thanks a million!

I was looking to downgrade to a regular cab truck because of being a friggen taxi to all my friends. Plus, I often use the cab to haul things that cant get wet -and the rear seats (even folded up) get in the way. - I'm too cheap to buy a cover for the bed (I'd have to if I got a reg. cab) . This works out great!

Yep, removed the rear seats - took all of 10 minutes. Thanks!

On the down side, it doesn't look so great in the back - but I have a blanket that goes over the back of the cab - it works great.

On the plus side - no more lint problem in the back seats! I've just corrected 50% of the lint issue! :(

Now...Just remove the front seats and you won't have any lint issues at all :(:D

The best decision I ever made in college (well almost) was to buy a regular cab truck. If we ever went to the bars, grocery store, anywhere, someone else drove. "I'd drive, but I don't have room for 5 people." But I had the box if I ever needed to haul A LOT of people or beer. :D

Now I have a crew cab and I always drive every where. I love to drive my truck so it's ok. Usually just around town. Although my mom volunteers my truck for me to haul stuff for her now; she likes it better than my Dad's Ext. Cab Ford. :D

Yeah I removed my back seat when I took the dogs on a trip last year. Worked out great they had a ton of room.
