Brake Warning Light

I have a 99 Z71 (new style) and the brake warning light comes on at random while I'm driving, not applying the brakes, but just driving normally. As a test I disconnected the fluid level sensor and drove the truck to see if the light would come on and it did. Then I put a jumper between the pins of the connector, drove the truck and the light still came on. So I reconnected the fluid level switch and disconnected the parking brake switch, drove the truck and the light still came on.

What is making this light come on? It drives me nuts because I don't like seeing that big red warning light staring me it the face for no apparent reason. The truck does not feel or act any different and has no reason to make me think something is wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

mine does the same thing and I also have a '99 NBS, both the brake warning light and the ABS at the same time. I'm pretty sure I need to clean one of the ABS sensors to make it stop. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm with ya though. it's annoying.
