Ls1 Dual Electric Fan

Recommended Posts

I have a dual electric fan from a '99 Camaro/Firebird for sale. I bought it a year or so ago but have never got around to installing it in my truck. It works great and comes with the pigtails to make wiring it up a breeze. I am asking $90 plus shipping from 17603.

I'm interested and will stake 1st dibs on this, but I have questions:

1- How do you mount this?

2- How is it controlled in a 2004 truck?

3- Is 105 amp alternator up to the task?

Thanks,

Candido

I'm not sure how you would mount these on an '04 but I can't imagine it being much different than how I was going to mount it on my '96. I was going to use two metal angle pieces one mounted to the yop and one mounted to the bottom of the fan shroud. Then I was going to either tie-strap or screw it to the radiator housing. I will look for a tech article showing how to mount it.

As for how to control the fans you have a couple options. The way I was going to control them was to buy Flex-A-Lite's VSC (variable speed controller) from Summit. You can also find similar items from Jegs, AutoZone or any other chain auto parts store. Just make sure it comes with an A/C relay so the fans kick on when the A/C is turned on. What's nice about the variable speed controller is that it only turns on one fan at first, and if the temp. still rises then it will turn the other fan on. Another option is to have your computer programmed to turn the fans on. I wanted to do this when I had mine programmed from wait4me, but it's not an option on the '96 models. The newer trucks I'm pretty sure have this option. Lastly, you could have a wiring harness made from Nelson Performance. If you click the link you will see the harness.

Your stock alternator should easily handle the fans unless you have alot of other electronic stereo/video or aux lighting equipment.

Just so you know, I have these fans for sale on a couple other truck forums. Right now you are 3rd in line as far as when the person called "dibs". If the other two back out then they are yours if you are still interested. If you give me your zip I can get a shipping quote when I get home.

Thanks
