Mpg Info On Leveling Kit

After having my leveling on the truck for a little over a month the truck was getting 16 mpg before the kit now after I installed it the truck went down to 14 mpg so I said the hell with this and I removed it and now with the same driving everyday both with and with out the kit the truck went back to 16 mpg with the kit removed. I filled up at the same station during this and the same driving was almost to the tee.

So with the truck front up in the air level with the rear it really put more wind drag on it which is expected and screwed with the aerodynamics, so iam just wondering if anyone else saw this. Yeah it looks good leveled but not at the cost of -2 mpg at 4 bucks a gallon. Mileage was hand calc.

I can't tell you what my mileage would be without the level and 305/50/20 AT tires (and front valance removed) since I only drove the truck a few days without these items. I can say that I get 14 combined MPG on a 6.2l and I tend to drive 20 over on the highway and 10 over in the city. I do try to acceralate to cruising speeds more gently then I used to (+1 MPG). I did try 2 weeks of very gentle accelation and only going 5 over on the highway...mileage jumped to 16 combined. I decided I'd rather enjoy driving the truck then try to save gas, so I'm back down to 14 now.

Sadly, 14mpg is the same MPG I getting on the SL65AMG I have in my garage (it's a 604hp/738lbft, 4300lb, 6.0L biturbo V12 roadster). If the 65 wasn't black, I'd buy keep it for myself. Very polically incorrect, very fun to drive once you figure out how to drive it and still get some traction (or keep the electronic nannys at bay).

Pretty soon, being able to afford to drive a PU or SUV will be sort of a status symbol of sorts (I said this to my GMC saleman in October and he thought I was joking).

Do you drive mostly city or highway? I would expect that kind of dropoff on the highway (well, maybe, that still seems extreme) but in the city I wouldn't expect to see much, if any, drop off.

I've been making jokes like this since the price of gas first went up.

I saw no change that I could really quantify when I go the leveling kit. Within a week or so of getting it installed, I did switch to Centerline wheels, which were just under HALF the weight of my stock 20's...did that absorb the possible loss? Who knows...

I get 17-18 on the highway, which is what I got new.

I still get 11 in town, nothing has changed.
