Adjusting Headlights After 6" Lift?

I rencetly lifted my 07NBS LTZ VotecMax with a 6" Fabtech and 35" Toyo Open Country AT's, and 20"XD Hoss Rims (willpost pics soon). My question is, did any of you readjust your headlights for the additional height? Somewhere in the Fabtech instructions it says to do this. I haven't driven it at night yet, so I have no obvious feedback to see if i need to readjust or not. Thanks in advance!

You can leave your lights on in a garage to check. I am not sure if my dealer adjusted them, they work though..

So does one take a screw driver to them and crank them down? I mean is there a standard formula? Like for every inch higher from standard do you adjust an inch at 100ft or something?

i know on GMT-800, the adjustment is right on the top but for the gmt-900's we've always brought them to the dealer...

No formula. There is actually a headlight tester that is used to adjust headlights. To get the lights back around the ball park area, face the truck against a wall and turn on the lights. Mark an approximate center of the light with tape. Repeat with the brights. After you lift the truck repeat the previously steps. I would still bring it in to have profesionally done.

I didn't bother adjusting the headlights, I still shed alot of light on the road it's just the beam is slightly higher now!!! I usually run at night with my fog lights on anyways so that puts alot of extra light on the road.

To adjust you lights park on a flat surface with something flat in front of you such as your garage door etc. I'm not sure how far you need to be parked away but I would estimate about 2 car lengths or so. you should only have to adjust the lights down slightly and shouldn't have to mess with the side to side adjustment but if you do remember that the passenger headlight should be slightly in favor to the right side which puts more light on the ditch and side of the road areas. the drivers light should point straight ahead and not to the left which could affect oncoming traffic/drivers. I believe the bottom screw needs to be tightened to get the headlight to go down but I haven't adjusted a new body style truck yet. I haven't adjusted the headlights since I worked at the Chevy dealership wich was about 5 years ago.

With a 6 inch lift, I say yes, adjust your headlights. If not for you, for your fellow drivers. It does make a difference.

You WILL want to adjust them down. I threw a 6" BDS lift in my '08 Denali and when I took it for a "test drive" the first night I got MANY people telling me that I was #1 with there middle finger and multiple people "ducking" and adjusting their rear view mirrors when I pulled up behind them.

On mine...I took them ALL the way down to the lowest adjustment that can be made to them and they were REALLy close to where they were supposed to be according the magic formula for adjustment / alignment. I also have HID coverted low beams...so they are significantly brighter than stock anyway, so maybe stock would be alright...but I would venture a guess that you'll need to take them down at least a little for the safety of other drivers.
