Change Or Modify My Trans Cross Member?

I want to replace my thm 350 trans with a 700r4 trans in my stock 72 Chevrolet pick up.

Do I need to replace the crossmember with a different one or do you just reposition it?

I was reading that the difference in length is 3 inches provided I have the longer tail housing on the 350 thm.

 

Is it also that difficult to conect the tv cable or are you using the same hardware/brackets etc?
