Oem Nav Help

Hi everyone. I just installed the factory oem nav in my '08 Sierra and everything is working great. I only have one question. Shouldn't the arrow be pointing north when I am in North view? For some reason there is no view where the top of the screen is the direction in which I am traveling. The arrow is always pointing to the right and the screen never rotates, the arrow just goes backwards, forwards up and down. Is this normal? I tried rotating the GPS antenna but it didn't do a thing. Thanks for your help.

That is incorrect - at least on my '07 Sierra Denali. Maybe the other NAV's don't have the option to do that. But, my SD has three different views (and I assume it's not the "only" SD that has that).

One is with North always at the top. One has the direction you're facing always at the top and the map rotates around. The third is kind of a mock 3-D type view, where 'top' is the direction you're facing and the map rotates around. Probably the best way to describe it is like a video game that has a 3/4 overhead view. Things closer are bigger. Things farther away (that you're moving toward) are smaller.

To change from one view to the other, you press the screen where the compass is.

EDIT : I seem to remember hearing about a way to recalibrate the NAV so that it "knows" which direction is north (in case it gets confused about it and starts showing things incorrectly). I think it's in the owner's manual, but I'm not sure. M. Cueva might be able to lend some assistance with that... Mike..??

Did you get reprogrammed at the dealership?
