I was wondering if you have to remove the spare tire with the magnaflow cat-back dual exit. I tired to search on here but could not find anything on it. I thought i had read once that you had too but cant remember for sure. I went to there web site and there is nothing that says if you have to or not. Any help would be appriated.

Nope. I got the MagnaFlow dual rear exit (model# 16741) on mine and it doesn't come anywheres close to touching the spare tire. I'll try to take some pics and post them tomorrow for you.

Tell me about it, who gets swept by the Angels anyways?? On a postive note, David Ortiz is playing 3 games in Portland, Maine starting tonite. The Portland Sea Dogs are the AA affiliate for the Red Sox and he is playing here as part of his rehab. All three games are sold out, which is usually unheard of, and people are selling them in excess of $300 and up!

I get all the games on cable. I am from Mass. but live in Kansas now to do being in the military. Going to KC for the games at the begining of Aug. then i am going back to boston to try and see a game there. Hope there still close to Tampa by then or it wont be worth it.

I also want to get Magnaflow Exhaust for my V-Max, later on though my priorities right now are a shift kit.

I was reluctant to spend the money too. I originally wanted the Single Rear side exit MagnaFlow exhaust and the cheapest I could find it for was around $560 not including installation. Then while I was at my GMC dealer for service, I noticed that they were an authorized dealer for MagnaFlow. So I asked the accessory guy for a qoute for the Single Rear and he was about the same as everyone else, but he told they were running a special on the MagnaFlow Dual Rear exit. I was hesitant to get the dual rear exit because I wanted to maintain a stock look, but after he told me the price, it was a done deal........$495 installed!

That's a good deal bro, but I really need a shift kit because I tuned my V-Max and I want my tranny to last, but after the shift kit I'll probably install the Magnaflow on my truck. How good does the truck sound with Magnaflow?

As promised....

I have the Magnaflow cat back that is the 3" single pipe out the stock location. I've been kicking myself for not going with the dual out the back. I assume the muffler is single in and dual out, and the right side runs about where the stock pipe was. Where does the left hand pipe cross over? There's a fuel tank in the way on my '06! I love the sound of mine but it can be a bit droning at some speeds. How does the dual out the back sound?

Could someone get me the part number for the single in dual out muffler that comes with the #16741 system? I am wanting to buy the muffler and have my local shop make some tailpipes for me. I want a dual side exit out each side and it seems Mangaflow does not offer that system. I really prefer side exits to rear when towing.

Yeah, it is a single in/dual out and the right side pipe uses the existing hanger mount. The left side uses a hanger the bolts onto a hole in the left side frame. The left side pipe crosses over just before the rear axle.

I don't have an answer for you as far as the sound difference between the single and dual because I have yet to hear/find a similar truck with the single installed......my guess is that it might be a bit louder due to the second pipe.

I have a 99' with a 5.3 L in it and I purchased the Single In dual out Cat back exhaust by Magnaflow and it was the first time I put an exhaust together by myself. It went together flawlessly and the fit and finish was great.

However,

After firing it up I was like OH YEAH, that sounds mean but, driving around 1100 RPM and 1600 RPM it was deafening droning in the cab. I couldn't stand it anymore. A visit to the Muffler shop and they suggested putting in a resonator. I did and what a difference. I'm sure I lost a little by doing so but, it's way better this way.

If I was going to do it again I would have gone with the Flowmaster system as their kit "COMES" with a resonator...

After researching Magnaflow's site, it looks like part #12588 would be the single in dual out muffler in satin finish. I don't need polished, it's not like you can really see it anyway.

Could anyone confirm this #?
