Stop The A/c Going To The Outside Air?

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the A/C stop going to the outside air? I turn on the AC and it is on circulation for a bit and then it turns to outside air on its own, which sucks because it’s usually 100 outside.

That sounds like normal operation....it's typical to run your A/C on fresh air for a bit before switching over to recirculate since the temp inside your truck is probably much hotter than the outside air even if it is 100 degrees. Unfortunately with all the automatic systems I doubt you'll be able to do anything about it. Too many damn computers running things anymore. I've still control over mine :D ...

It is a VERY common complaint about GMT-900 trucks in the southern USA. The AC was designed by Yankee engineers up north that are clueless how an AC should work in a hot environment. Sure it works great up norf but sucks down souf. GM could fix this with a software update but we are still waiting.

I think you might have it backwards it is ok at first it recalculates then once it gets to the temp I want it goes to the outside air..

Try turning "auto" off. Mine hardly ever pulls in outside air.. and when it does, it's because I hit the button to pull in outside air. Otherwise, I want it on recirculate, as much as possible, so it cab get as cold as possible.

I was driving a friends 07 Suburban this evening w/ the auto air and it does it too....makes no sense to me. I'll keep my manual controls!

It does state in the manual that the most effective way to cool the interior is to use the outside air feature (with the windows opened initially) until the interior has completely cooled. Then switch to recirculation mode.

Makes perfect sense to me, but I am from the north…

Don't buy that huh? Put a thermometer inside your truck and see how hot it gets.

I think that it is setup like this because when the air is recirculated it is lacking oxygen, this will make you drowsy. The outisde air is put on because it has more oxygen and less carbon dioxide. Not 100% sure but that is my thoughts.

I've driven mine for hours in the recirc mode and I've never gotten dizzy or drousy....regardless the efficiency of the system is degraded in the "fresh air" mode. You could be right though....probably mandated by the idiots in Washington.

Are you talking about when the truck has been sitting outside, windows up, just heating up? If that's the case, I buy it but the OP was asking about when he was in the truck and had it set to recirculate for a while why it would switch over to outside air instead of staying on recirculate. When you said his situation sounded like normal operation because the air outside was cooler than that in the cab, you confused me. He already had it on recirculate for a while and then it switched over, it wasn't right away when he first started the truck that it switched over.

Obviously I misread his complaint....don't you have something to debadge? :)

I'm trying to remove the spots from this damn giraffe but it's proving a lot more difficult than I planned! :)
