My friend just bought an 06 chevy 2500HD with a duramax. He put the banks 6 gun, an intake, and a five inch exhaust on it. This truck screams. I know I sound like a little school girl but, I am super jealous , because I bought a new 07 GMC 1500 SLT with 6.0L v8, 9 months ago. I am thinking I want to sell it after winter and buy a new HD. What do you guys think? But I Know I will be out a lot of money when I sell or trade it in. This suck's idk what to do!

You are going to take a big hit when selling your truck. Also the new diesels aren't getting very good mileage.

Yeah I was thinking of just lifting my truck and just keep it, but this is my first truck, I have always had fast sports car's that got me into trouble. The reason I bought a truck was to stay out of trouble. But when I ride in his truck its super fast and I love it so much!! Idk!! Gas Mileage is not to important to me, I love driving in a truck and everything about it. So having a fast truck would be awesome!!

sounds like you don't need the hd for the capacity just for the "cool" factor so you'd be taking a pretty big hit for something you don't really need. Id stick with what you got.

a much better investment for you would to just get a custom tune for your truck that will wake your 6L up

A custom tune and some performance parts to make your truck way faster is what u need. I think you should just stick with your 6.0L unless u really need an HD which I doubt.

Yeah, buy an HD cause you tow and haul so much. Then buy some parts so the warranty will be void, sounds like a great idea to me.

I votes no, along with everyone else before me. If it was me, I would keep the truck and modify to help curb those jeleous feelings. No sense wasting a pile of money to "keep up with the Jones's". Again, just my opinion.

In my opinion the money you'd lose to trade could easily make your 6.0L "scream." You could lift it, tune it, chrome it out, tint it, put shiny rims on it, knobby tires, . . . .

I'm a big fan of diesel power, but diesels don't make the best daily drivers either.

 

Like others have stated for what it will cost you to upgrade to the diesel you could really make your 6.0L scream.

Keep in mind that a diesel will cost you alot more to work on/fix than your gaser.

Given your truck is a an '07 1500 with the 6.0, I'm going to assume it must be the 367 hp Vmax. If that's the case and you haven't done any programming to the ECM, you may be suprised by how much performance can be realized with a good custom tune. My Vmax felt much slower than the 5.3 in my '03 Z71 EC when I first bought it. After the custom tune it is like a completely different engine and has much more power througout the entire RPM range. That might be enough additional performance to take your mind off of buying a diesel for performance gains. I am quite pleased with my truck and would put it up against any of the new gas powered trucks on the market (except for the super trucks, e.g. the Dodge SRT).

 

If you're looking for a good tuner, Blackbear Performance did mine and the guy is very good at what he does and has excellent customer service.

I'd keep your old one and throw some performance items on it....How about a supercharger? Then you can blow the doors of your buddy.
