I picked up a set of the GM towing mirrors for my 08 Sierra and was curious if anyone had switched to these mirrors. I am debating whether to put them on or not because I'll lose my power folding mirror ability and the second reason is I'm not sure if I'll like the overall appearance. what are your thoughts?

They only look good on a HD. :D I'd say if you are towing an 8' wide trailer and or would like the larger view you get with them then go ahead. I have them because I tow and like the larger view to the rear for backing up when snow plowing. The only pain for me is that there is only a 2 inch clearance on either side when pulling in and out of the garage door. I just have to take it slow.

If it was not for the towing I do I probably would have gotten the smaller power folding ones. I had power ones on my previous vehicle (Toyota Sequoia) but rarely even used that feature.

I think your truck is big enough that it will look fine if you do but I also think your truck looks nice enough now and that those aren't really needed. If you haul and need the view though, go for it, it'll look fine. If you do, let me know, I may be interested in the stockers.

I switched mine to the 'tow mirrors' -

swap was easy - first mirror is the learning curve - second mirror goes quite easy

awesome colored truck by the way .. ;-)

If you decide against putting them on, would you want to sell them? What would you want for them?

I think they would look just fine. I miss the big mirrors. All my older Chevy's had the bigger mirrors, and it took awhile to get use to the smaller ones.

I swtiched over to the towing mirrors to help see around my trailer when towing. However, day to day driving, they are great. A nice large mirror allows for a full field of vision. Go for it.

You and Alaska could be best buds with your Dumbos!:lol:

I voted no, if you don't tow. I don't think I have used my powerfolding on my truck, I park the farthest away in a parking lot though...

I had nothing else to do after work today so I installed them to see what they would look like on my truck. I'll drive to work tomarrow and see if I like them or not but I really don't tow much right now so odds are I'll probably take them back off but here are the pictures I took with my Verizon phone.

They look great! Sell me the other ones!

Seriously though, your truck is big enough to pull it off, no problem. Now you just have to like 'em!

My initial reaction when you said you don't tow much was "Why then?" But the more I look at your truck with it sitting up so high, I think they fit the look of the truck much better than the OEM ones.

I say keep'em  (But if you sell the stockers to daddy, charge him double).

^^^ What he said! And as for the double thing... I don't mind paying $20 whatsoever! The shipping will be easy to since we live only a couple of miles apart.

Where do you live in Indiana daddy? I'm in Lawrence aka Indianapolis at Oaklandon and 79th. If I do keep the tow mirrors on I don't plan on selling the stockers just in case I change my mind down the road or something else happens etc.
