I have the Firestones on my Jeep and my Dad's Suburban. I highly recommend them. They are great in bad weather, quiet, and ride really nice. Pretty hard to beat for the price. We got both sets from Tirerack because of the rave reviews there. I don't think I would have even considered a Firestone if I hadn't seen that. The Jeep in my sig has em on it.

I have the Wilderness ATs too, and they are great in all terrains, mud, snow, ice, etc. Wear is fine. The only thing that I didnt like but its a characteristic of any A/T tire is if you are in deep thick mud you have to get the tires spinning pretty well to clean out the tread to keep going like normal.

Edit:

Durrrr im a retard.....I have the Destination A/Ts but they are a great tire, and the wilderness should be no different.

i have the Firestone destination A/ts but i only have about 3500 miles on them..

I've had mine in mud and water with great results but we don't get snow or ice so I can't really offer an opinion there.

Ones that were improperly inflated, that was the WHOLE deal behind that recall. Yes they were the wilderness, and my moms expedition was effected, but we have a set on now, and they went 65000 miles and still have lots of tread left.

Sorry guys - I MENT the Destination AT tire not the wilderness version.

If you are not going off-road, take a look at the Destination LE. Not as agressive tread but usually less expensive than the A/T, has a longer wear rating and very quite. Put a set of these on a Jeep Liberty and would not hesitate to buy them again. traction was excellent even in foot-deep snow.

I was looking at these on tire rack also. I couldn't find them with a load range E in the LT245/75/16. I saw a set of these on a truck, and they really looked good.

i've noticed the rave reviews also, but it looks like to me the shipping charges will kill the price savings... try and take alook at the kumho's on there, i think they're even cheaper. i had a good connection w/ a manger of a action tire down here and had good luck with cooper discoverer LT (3 sets) and one set of the discoverer AT (1 set). i liked the LT's better. Wally-world has these uniroyal liberator AT's w/ newer tread then a few years ago anf you won't find anything that'll touch their price i bet.

The Wilderness AT's were stock on my 99. The wet traction sucked. I've heard good things about the Destination AT's. I know I enjoyed the 2 sets of Revo's I had on the 99.

Yeah, weren't the Wilderness AT the ones that were blowing up on the Explorers? :wtf:

The big Firestone recall did involve the Firestone Wilderness AT but it was a specific size (or a few sizes) and only tires made at certain plants. IIRC, those recalled tires only showed up as factory-installed tires on Ford Explorers and were not sold in retail outlets.

My 99 Silverado came with Wilderness AT's and the tread design was much like a street tire. They sucked in the wet and traction was almost non-existant in snow. If it wasn't for the 4WD, I probably would have gotten stuck on every ski trip or whenever it snowed in my area. And those tires only lasted about 42K before the tread was down close to the wear bars.

I bought a replacement set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's during a sale at Costo. At the time (about 4 years ago) the Dueler AT Revo's were highly recommended on this board. They worked great in the wet and in the snow, they were quiet on the freeway and they made a big improvement in the handling of the 99. I could toss the truck into corners with the Revo's and they would hold on tight.

My brand new 08 Silverado has a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT RH-S tires (265/65-18). The tread design is not quite as agressive as the Revo's but they look like they will do very well in the wet and in snow.
