I just received my order of Zaino, Z2, Z6, Z8, and Zfx. I washed the truck per instructions, wash with Dawn and towel dry. I did not clay bar because the paint is very smooth and it is a new truck, 08 Silverado. I put on my first coat of Z2 and used very little and waited a good hour before taking it off. Seemed like it came off nice. Followed that up with some Z6 detailer and that seemed to do well. Until I took it outside and holy crap! It was terrible, streaks everywhere. So I thought maybe I need a second coat of Z2. So I did that waited 1 1/2 hrs to remove, seemed like it came off nice and followed it up with Z6. Looked even worse. So, I got out the Dawn and stripped it all off. Now the truck looks good, nice and shiny etc w/o Zaino. But I want the protection of Zaino on the paint.

So here is my are my questions:

1. What did I do wrong?

2. Do I need to dampen the applicator pad with Z6 or water to make it not streak and make the polish come off better?

3. How do you keep it from streaking bad?

The Zaino was dry and very hazy when I took it off both times but you could clearly see where the applicator pad went. And putting the Z6 on definately did not help. I mixed up a bottle of 1oz of Z2 to 5 drops Zfx. I would like to get my $70 worth out of this product and am kind of dissapointed. I used it very sparingly as the instructions said but still wound up with streaks.

Well, sorry for the long post, but I was hoping womeone out there might know what I am doing wrong. I have a 08 Silverado BLACK and not very easy to keep clean so I thought I would give Zaino a try but I am striking out right now. Please help me on the right path!

Thanks in Advance for any help!

Call Sal at Zaino. He is the man.

We have used Zaino on several Vettes with no issue, including black exteriors. It is one of the best on the market. Not sure what went wrong...

Thanks. It was really noticeable on the hood and bed rails, among other places. Thanks for the reply. I was and still am sure I did something wrong. I plan on calling in the morn they are closed now and see what I should do. When you do it do you dampen the applicator pad before you apply the polish?

If you don't wipe the z6 with a clean towel until it completely disappears, it will streak like crazy. You have to use a clean dry towel and flip it often. When you apply the z6, you should only do like a sq ft or 2 at a time and wipe until it is dry and gone. Them move to the next spot. Are you using the accelerator ZFX? That's what I use so I can do multiple coats the same day.

Yes, I am using the Zfx. So I guess the biggest problem I have is why do you see where I go with the applicator pad when using Z2? Do I need to dampen the pad first? Thats the biggest thing right now. Thanks for the info on the Z6. I prolly used too much Z6 but I was hoping the streaks would go away but wrong! I read the directions and thought I was doing it right but I guess not.

i personally have never used zaino. just lots of diff waxes. i always put wax on the app. pad never water. and those streaks sound like u used too much "zaino" and didnt buff it off well enough. for me the buffing/polishing is hell work compared to the application of it. just my 2 cents!

I called Zaino this morn and I told them my problem and the guy said to go over it with a damp towel and dry with a dry towel to "even" out the polish. Thats what I did and it turn't out good. I don't think I have had a mirror like finish that good. Close but not this clear, like going from good digital TV to HD. Thanks for the help guys. Any other info on Zaino you guys want to pass along to me let me know. I appreciate the info!

    • Curious, did anyone ever get a fix for the vibration reported here.   I have a 2024 Silverado with 6.6 duramax.   I’m noting the same vibration resonating up through the steering shaft into the steering wheel.    Best way to describe- like someone is tapping on the steering shaft/components and it’s resonating into the steering wheel.    thanks.
    • Hi friends - first time poster. I have a 2015 sierra Denali with 150k miles, I’m the second owner and she’s given me 75k of great service. I run a pulse AFM disable device. Starting Thursday when I exited the freeway after a short local ride it started idling rough, with an obvious misfire shake and was down on low end power.  I got it home and hooked it up to my scannner and found no codes but in live data a pretty bad misfire on cylinder 5. I replaced the coil, plug and wire with all new OE replacements (Delphi gn10165 coil, acdelco wire and 41-168 plug). It’s still behaving the same way after firing the parts cannon at it.   I know cyl 5 is a non AFM cylinder so I am not thinking this is AFM related but I’m kinda at a loss. injector? Bent pushrod? It’s running too well over 1k rpm to suggest those IMO. Has anyone chase this issue before and what was it? Any suggestions?
    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
