2009 Viper Acr Goes Around The 'ring In 7:22

Just last week in a country far, far away…

 

With the Nurburgring Wars we've seen lately, some Viper guys wanted to try and steal some of the spotlight with the 2009 Dodge Viper ACR.

It's unfortunate that the Viper has a "big power, straight line car" reputation, one that's certainly undeserved, even with the non-ACR models.

 

The video

 

Without implying that I'm a better driver, the driver of the Viper seems to have left a couple of seconds out on the track. There are a couple of missed 3rd gear shifts, although relatively minor, but he also leaves it in 4th gear on the entire back straight and just bounces off the limiter all the way towards the start/finish.

 

It's still a very cool video.

Low quality video/equipment to go with the low quality car (but it is a fast rattlebox).

 

The ZR1 video is much better (plus the 'Vette has a few options the Viper doesn't - such as a radio).

Those are impressive numbers, but I'd also go for the vette!

If you pulled as much crap out of a ZR1 as Dodge pulled out of the base Viper SRT-10 to make the ACR, the ACR wouldn't have a chance.

What an ugly pile of junk. That car has no refinement. Not to mention it was specifically built just to say, "Hey, we built a race car and beat your street machine".

I bet if GM stripped down the ZR1; took out the radio, electronics, etc and put on racing slicks and ran it the track on a day without rain and a head wind they could shave off another 10+ seconds.
