On my 2003 Suburban my brakes were good until the day I traded it in for my 2007 Suburban, it had 130,000. My 2006 Silverado front brakes last only 18,000 miles and my V-Max front brakes lasted until 27,000 miles.

I hope that's not the case on the NBS trucks. I got 50,000 from my 2002 GMC Sierra.

If your pads only lasted that long, then there is some other problem with the brakes or you are taking the truck out on road race courses. I would have a technician carefully inspect the braking system to see why the pads went away in such a short time.

If you go to the GMPartsDirect website, you can follow the procedure for ordering pads easily. They may have some good prices, but be careful of the shipping charges. Sometimes the shipping costs are so high that you wind up paying close to retail.

The original pads on my 99 Silverado were still on the truck when I traded it in 3 weeks ago on an 08. The 99 had 77K miles on it and those pads still had 60% left. I would suggest that you look at alternate brands like Raybestos Professional Grade pads, or the new Hawk Ceramic pads for trucks.

I drive a 2007 Avalanche LTZ. My front break pads went at 10,800km and the back at 18,100km. I do drive a little faster than order road users because its an A V A L A N C H E! Also, we don't really have enforced speed limits down in West Africa where I leave. I have AcDelco break pads on now. I have cooled down a little and hope they last longer. I enjoy reading gm-trucks forum! Thanks

I have about 9500 miles on my 07 and the pads look like they have never been used. Either somebody is driving like Michael Schumacher or there is a problem.

I have 59,000km on my truck and I drive it like I stole it and my brakes are fine. There is definitely something up with that. My 05 Silverado had 78,000k on it and brakes were perfect on that as well. I would get those brakes checked out.

do you have rear drums? I believe my rear drums are not graduated, and my truck is breaking only with front disc (pads)...

How do you get your rear drums brakes graduates just to brake fine?

thank you.

I have 121,000 miles and figured I'd really need front brakes. I pulled off the left front tire and there is about 1/4" left til the warning indicator. Mine is a 2001 with rear disk brakes. Now I'm going to look at the rears, they were okay last fall. I am surprised that these brakes are more or less lasting forever. I was thinking of getting a new truck but I won't buy one with rear drums. Also it sounds like newer ball joints are "maintenance free" where mine can be greased. Yes, I think I will keep it.

We ordered/purchased our 2001 Suburban 1500 4WD & it still has the original front brakes at 210,000 miles! The rear pads were replaced at approx. 140,000 miles due to the sticky/rusted E-brake issue that is common on these vehicles. I know this sounds unbelievable as I can't believe it myself!! The vehicle does get used(not abused) as a daily driver and have towed many times from Minnesota to Wyoming pulling a 24ft enclosed trailer. Incredible!!!

My 2000 Silverado Z71 had 121,000 on it when I sold it last week with the original front pads. It pulled a 27' and 24' camper a lot or a boat or a car trailer. Still had 1/4" to go until the wear sensors would hit.

I have 24 000 km, and front and rear are very efficient, with the camper 2000 Lb is better and most efficient breaking than with my old ram
