Prius On Fire!

Was driving south on I-25 from C-470 here in Colorado when I saw a large plume of smoke at the top of the hill in front of me. Traffic was still getting by but it was in a construction zone so we were going pretty slow. Behind me I could see the Emergency Vehicles comming up from the Lincoln Onramp but they were stuck in traffic. Made my way up to the area and behold, a newer model Prius on the side of the road, fully in flames. Those flames were shooting a good 20 feet up into the air with very dark smoke. It was only then that I remembered that the Crapota has alot of un-environmental friendly batteries in there and I wanted to be no where nearby when and if they would explode, I got out of there quick. Not really sure what caused it to start on fire, was no accident. There was a few people off the side of the road so I assume everyone got out of there ok. Oh what a feeling... To watch a Toyota burn..

Prolly the batteries shorted out under strain.. There are a lot of batteries on that car...

I sometimes have to drive a prius at work - as a security vehicle... it blows.

While I don't want to see any car burn... Ok, maybe I want to see a Prius go up in flames.

 

And a couple of weeks ago I saw a 80s era lifted K20 that had been hit by a Prius. Nothing was wrong with the truck, and the guy was just standing there kinda laughing. The Prius driver, on the other hand, was all pissed off, talking to the cops. About a half hour later, I was walking into Pep Boys, and I saw the K20 drive down the road, perfectly fine, and then saw the Prius getting carried away on a flatbed. I tried to get a picture, but the light changed and I had to keep driving.
