Tie Rod

What is the 'normal' life expectancy of the tie rods on GMT800 series trucks? Mine have been replaced under warranty twice already and the dealership says that they may need it again within a few thousand miles. My truck has 30600 miles on the odometer and it is a 2WD. the dealership will look at them again tomorrow while they fix my window.....is there a better aftermarket replacement or am I gonna be stuck like chuck in a few thousand more miles???

Sounds like something else can be causing the premature wear. Are you running larger wheels/tires?

nope, stock americraps with 17" aluminums (OEM)

The OEM tie-rods ware out way too quick. I had one replaced by the dealer around 15,000 miles. When the other one went out at 50.000 miles I replaced both sides inner and outer with Moog parts. Not too costly if you do it your self. And should last a loooong time. And if you count the threads and get them back the same the alignment will not be off much. After I replaced them and took it to the tire shop the alignment guy said the toe-in was just very slightly off.

appreciate the info, I might just replace those rods when they wear out in the next couple of thousand miles with MOOG parts.....
